This portrait depicts Natasha Gelman. Natasha used to be the model for both Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera. Natasha and her husband Jacques, were friends of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. They are also patrons of many famous Mexican painters. Jacques was born in Russia and made his fortune through the movies of Cantinflas (a popular Mexican comedian) as a producer. Natasha was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia and they go married in 1941.

Natasha and Jacques started their most famous collection of Mexican art with a wowing number of 280 piece. Natasha passed away in 1998. Since then the collection has been shown around the world and now they are acquired by Centro Cultural Parque Morelos in Cuernanavaca, Mexic
